James Bauer Obituary, Death – James Bauer Sr., 80, of Springfield, MN, died on August 21, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Home. Visitation will be held at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield Chapel, on Friday, September 1, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in 11:00 a.m., a Memorial Service will be held in the Funeral Home following the visitation. Chaplain Noel Wetter will be in charge of the clergy.

James “Jim” Bauer was born at Mounds Park Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota on August 11, 1943, the son of Phillip and Eileen Bauer. In Wisconsin, he attended and graduated from New Richmond High School. On February 2, 1976, he married Julie Leopold in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They went around to several towns before settling in Minnesota in 1992.
Jim has always worked as a chef. He obtained skills by opening a restaurant in Florida and designing a number of kitchens in Las Vegas. In Minnesota, he worked as a chef at Jackpot Junction, The Kaiserhoff, and, most recently, the American Legion in Sanborn. In 2002, he opened J & J Corner Corral in Sanborn, Minnesota, his ideal restaurant.
This was a family affair, as he spent time with his children and grandchildren, making memories and helping the community till 2019. Jim is left by his wife, Julie; sons, Jimmy Bauer and Logan, Tony (Cryshall) Bauer and children, Shantell and Ean Bennett, and Bob Bauer and children, Presley, Gaige, and Bentley Bauer; and a particular love, Luna Bear. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his brothers, Don Bauer, Dick Bauer, and Gordy Bauer.
