Before his TikTok fame, Muchlinski had a different career. He used to work at Thomson Reuters as an Attorney Editor from June 2017 to September 2019.
In this role, he wrote summaries of legal cases and helped develop guidelines for organizing case information on the Westlaw platform. He even trained other editors and introduced new practices for writing case news summaries.

Just a day before his passing, Vonviddy shared a heartfelt video with his followers. In this touching message, he spoke openly about his life’s ups and downs and how he wished to be remembered.
Joseph talked about his love for music and comedy and his desire not to be defined only by his struggles with addiction.
He said, “I also want to be remembered as a camp counselor who helped kids make happy memories. I’d rather not be remembered as an addict and an alcoholic who put his family through hell. But unfortunately, that’s also part of me.”
He also wanted to reassure his followers, expressing his gratitude for his life experiences.
He mentioned, “All in all, I’ve had a terrific life. I’ve got to visit the other side of the world, and I’ve made tons of friends from all walks of life. I have nothing to complain about, and I have nothing but peace and love for each and every one of you,” as he concluded his heartfelt message.
Before gaining fame on TikTok, Vonviddy had a significant legal career. He started as a Law Clerk at Fay & Associates, LLC from June 2014 to July 2015, where he handled tasks like drafting legal documents, organizing settlement documentation, and managing client communication.
He then worked as a Law Clerk at the Law Office of Sivertson & Barrette, P.A. from May 2016 to August 2016. He conducted legal research there, drafted legal papers, and interacted with clients and opposing counsel.
Later, Vonviddy transitioned to a role as an Attorney Editor at Thomson Reuters, where he worked from June 2017 to September 2019.
Here, he specialized in writing case summaries for Westlaw and West Reporters. He was also instrumental in developing guidelines for tagging important case facts and was part of a pilot team for a new Westlaw feature.
Vonviddy, born Joseph Muchlinski, entered the world in 1990 to parents Mary Muchlinski and Robert Muchlinski. He spent his early years in the welcoming embrace of Hudson City, Wisconsin, where he shared his upbringing with his sister, Martha Merced Muchlinski.
As time flowed, his quest for knowledge led him to the doors of Hamline University. From 2009 to 2013, he pursued his passions for Philosophy and English.
In those formative years, he stood out with an impressive GPA of 3.938. His commitment earned him the Joseph Norio Uemura Scholarship for Excellence in Philosophy.
But the journey of learning didn’t conclude there. Joseph’s thirst for knowledge propelled him to the Mitchell Hamline School of Law from 2013 to 2017. Immerse in the intricacies of law, he achieved the pinnacle, earning a Doctor of Law degree.
